2008 A Class Midget/Running 4 cycle, 4 cylinder stock 600cc motors                2008 A  Class Midget/Running other motors follows above class rules

Note:  The A and B classes are not subject to combining for small classes.

Motors:

a.  4 cycle, 4 cylinder stock engines not exceeding 600cc.  Stock engines as the motors were intended to run on the motorcycle from the factory with the charging unit.  No engine work (no ported heads, no lightened cranks, no cam degreeing, no lighteded pistons and no head cleanup).  Stock pistons only.  any air cleaner will be allowed.  Any exhaust header will be allowed.  Rods, pistons, cams, etc. must be stock parts as used on the motorcyclee the motor came from.

b.  Carburetors must be the same make  as the motor.  Factory injection allowed on gasoline powered cars only.  Stock Power Commander is allowed on injection but no external adjustments will be allowed.  Carbs may have metering rods, jets and springs changed to tun the fuel curve to match the car requirements. Only 1 OEM black box with manufacturer's part number to be used on that make.  Any type of box that has an external adjustment is considered illegal.  Boxes allowed include STOCK black box style Honda "HRC" version or "Yamaha Racing" versions.  No aftermarket CDI (ignition black boxes) allowed.  Aftermarket timing advancers are illegal.  Cam gears that are redrilled, slotted or altered are illegal.  Internal charging systems components must remain in the motor.  Any sprocket (520 or 530) will be allowed.  Stock or billet boots are allowed.  EXCEPTION: NO KAWASAKI 636 AND NO 2006 YZFR6V(copyrighted) AND/OR BLACK BOTTOM MOTORS ALLOWED.  NO 06-07 R6 OR 07 RR ALLOWED.  NO (2008) MOTORS ALLOWED.  Outer cosmetic changes that will be allowed are to mount the motor into the chassis (remove a piece of the engine block and or relocate the oil pan drain plug etc.).

NOTE: Cars, parts, components, and/or equipment will not be considered as having been approved by reason of having passed through inspection at any time or any number of times unobserved or undetected.

Weight:

a.  The minimum weight for car and driver is 750 pounds

Age:

a.  The age for this class is the attained age of 14 years with two years driving experience in another class excluding Boxstock.

NOTE: For the 2008 season only, any driver that competed in a race at Tri State Speedway, in the A class, under the age of 14, shall be grandfathered.

b.  A certified copy of a birth certificate may be required.

Safety:

a.  All cars must be equipped with a 5 point seat belt system.  All latches must be metal to metal.  All belts must have safety dates and will not exceed 3 years of age.  (Ex. Belts for 2008 must be dated no older than 2005).  Excess seat belt material shall not be cut.  It is to be taped or rolled up and cable tied.

b.  Arm restraints are mandatory.  Must be adjusted as to keep the driver's hands below the top of the roll cage.

c.  Helmets must be Snell 2000 approved and be full coverage.

d.  All drivers shall wear a name brand flame-retardant uniform.

e.  Gloves must be SFI rated.  Mandatory

f.  All drivers shall wear a neck brace or head and neck restraint system when on the racing surface.

Nerf Bars and Bumpers:

a.  Cars must have bumpers extending beyond the front and rear tires.  Nothing may extend beyond a tangent line from the outside edge of the tires to the bumpers.  Nothing may extend beyond the outside edge of the tires or wheels, whichever is the widest.  No sharp corners or designs as to hook or cause damage.  All cars must be equipped with nerfing bars.  Nerfing bars must extend to inside edge of tires, but not beyond the outside of tire.

Roll Cage:

a.  Roll cages shall be at least 1 inch .062 wall thickness, or 1 1/8 inch .065 wall thickness, or   1 1/4 inch .065 wall thickness.  Roll cage shall be made of chromoly steel or equivalent material.  The front section of the cage shall be no further back than the steering wheel.  Roll cage shall hae sufficient fore and aft bracing and strength to support the weight of the car and driver in case of an upset.  Cage shall have gussets at the intersecting bars to the uprights.  Bends must have at least 3 inch radius.  No square or pointed corners allowed.  Roll cage must be minimum of 3 inches above the driver's helmet.  It is mandatory to install a cross brace behind the seat to support the shoulder harness.

Electric and Electronics:

a.  On and off switches must be on dash, top of the cowl or on the steering wheel.  On/off switch must be connected and functional.

b.  No radio communication is allowed with the car or driver.

Battery:

a.  All wet cell batteries mounted in the cockpit must be covered and vented outside the cockpit area.

Fuel:

a.  All A class cars must run nationally approved fuels.  Spec upper end lube is Sunoco Alky Racing Fuel additive 7.5 ounces or Klotz Uplon KL107.

Suspension, Tread, Wheelbase and Steering:

a.  Suspension- Tread: maximum rear axle width shall be no greater than 50 inches wide center to center.  Minimum 32 inches, center to center of tires.  All suspension bolts except wheel nuts must be secured by some type of locking device.

b.  Wheelbase maximum 70 inches, minimum is 50 inches, center of front axle to center of rear axle.

c.  Steering- front wheels must be connected by a solid or tubular tie rod.  Rear drive only.

Shocks:

a.  Any shock absorber, no cockpit adjustable shocks.

Brakes:

a.  Brakes will be of sufficient strength so as to slide the wheels while the car is in motion at any given time.

Tires and Wheels:

a.  Any wheel size and tire combination may be used, but tires may not exceed 22 1/2 inches in height.  Wheels must be held on with 4 or more standard lug nuts or knock off hubs.

b.  Right rear tire must be a minimum 50-durometer compound Hoosier or American racer "NMMA" stamped tire.  Siping and regrooving will be allowed.  Tire durometer check will be done at least 15 minutes after the races to allow for cool down.  Air bleeders are allowed.

Ballast:

a.  Any material used for ballast must be firmly attached as a part of the car's structure.  No liquid or loose ballast such as water, fuel, oil, sandbags, rocks, log chains, etc. allowed.  All ballast must be painted white with the car number and driver's name on it.  All ballast must be attached with grade 8 bolts and pinned.  Loss of ballast during a race will result in a mechanical black flag.  Last place points will be awarded provided all other post race requirements are met.

Bodies:

a.  All cars must have complete bodies.  Tail sections must be in place for all races.  There must be a metal firewall between the driver and engine, made of 24 guage steel or .0625 aluminum.  Body of car must be made of aluminum, metal, fiberglass or high impact plastic.  Alol cars must be painted an attractive color or colors.  No rear view mirrors.  The only part of the car allowed to be dismantled for driver to enter or exit is a quick release steering wheel hub.  Mud guards must be made of aluminum or fiberglass and can be no less than 16 inches from the top of the cage.  All mechanically oiperated devices must be mounted below the driver's shoulders for safety.  No mechanical, electrical or hydraulic adjustments will be allowed in the cockpit area.  All fuel tanks must be equipped with a one-way check valve designed to prevent spillage of fuel in the event of a rollover.

Transmission and Chain Guard:

a.  Motors must have transmission with all stock gears in working order.  Any car equipped with a shifting mechanism must have this device mounted in the driver's compartment.

b.  Chain guards will be made of .090 inch thick aluminum or equivalent and will run on top of the chain from the front of the front sprocket to the center of the rear axle.  Driver must not be able to touch the chain or sprockets while sitting in the cockpit.

Wings:

a.  The top wing shall not exceed 10 sq. ft.  The right sideboard shall be a maximum of 48" x 18".  Left sideboard shall be maximum of 48" x 24".  The wing cannot be mounted outside the centerline of the tires.  Sideboards may not extend more than 3" beyond center section and sides must cover center section.  All wings must have a 1/16" radius edges or edging.  No raw edges.  Wing sides cannot be more than 4" below top of roll cage.  Nose wings cannot exceed 9" x 21", and must carry car number. top wing is mandatory to enter a night's event. Cars may finish without a wing if no replacement is available and wing has been destroyed during said event.  Cars must run a 10 squeare foot fixed  wing positioned no further back than the back of the roll cage.  The measurement for the wing placement will be taken from the back edge of the center section of the wing, not the sideboards.  That point is to be no further back than the rear of the roll cage behind the driver's head.  The roll cage cannot be altered to change this point.  NO COCKPIT ADJUSTABLE WINGS ALLOWED.  Wing center section has to be one piece.  No split or multi-staged nose or top wings allowed.

Numbers:

a.  All cars must have legible numbers in colors contrasting to the background on both sides of the car and on the nose.  Minimum height of numbers on the nose is 8 inches.  Minimum height on the tail is 10 inches.  Minimum height on both sides of top wing is 12 inches.  Cars must have a 12 inch number on top of the wing, facing the front of the car.  Numbers should be separated from advertising so that they will stand out and can be read by the scorekeepers.    NO GOLD, SILVER LEAF OR PRISMATIC NUMBERS ALLOWED.

Mufflers:

a.  Mufflers are mandatory and must keep the car at 95 decibels or less.  All mufflers must be packed and checked routinely to ensure full packing is in place.  NO SUPER TRAPS ALLOWED.

Some of the items subject to tech (but not limited to):

a.  Unless thes specs say you can do something, you cannot

b.  Fuel and additives

c.  Bore and stroke "600cc maximum"

d.  Cam shafts "stock OEM unaltered, in proper location, exhaust in front/intake in rear"

e.  CYL head for porting and or polishing, or resizing

f.  Ignition triggers wheel/advancer must be stock/OEM no altering of the indexing tab and or crank shaft slot or signal rotor.

g.  CDI/ECU Box must remain stock and unaltered

h.  Flywheel stock with no modifications

i.  Charging system must remain stock and be intact.  NO ALTERING.

j.  Transmission all gears must remain intact and functional

k.  Carburetors must be stock OEM motorcycle CV style carburetors. NO FLAT SIDES

l.  The right rear tire shall be a Hoosier or American racer NMMA stamped tire only.  Will be checked with a durometer 15 minutes after completion of race

m.  Rev limitors

2008 A CLASS MIDGET RUNNING OTHER MOTORS

Motors:

a.  4 strokes are allowed to open up to 600cc single or twin cylinder, all modifications allowed.  No more than 2 cylinders.

b.  Twin cylinder, 2 cycle, any modification allowed.  No more than 250cc.

c.  Open carburetor allowed

d.  No after market ignitions allowed.

Weight:

a.  Weigh for these cars is 650 pounds

Age:

a.  Age for this motor is 12 years and up.  Must be attained age of 12.

Safety:
